Lauren Talks With Wonderwall

Comb the Internet for a few minutes and you'll see gossip columns claiming Lauren Conrad is either dating Derek Hough, Corey Monteith or Colton Haynes, but as she'll tell you, don't believe everything you read.

"The Internet lies to you," Conrad joked to Wonderwall at Hyde Lounge in West Hollywood on Nov. 23.

Regardless of which guy is lucky enough to earn the title of boyfriend (and for the record, Hough was giving it his best effort at Hyde that night) Conrad says she has a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. At the top of her list are her friends, which is why the former star of “The Hills” spent the night before Thanksgiving supporting her pal, DJ Jilly Hendrix who was spinning at Hyde.

"Jilly and I have been friends since Kindergarten," she tells Wonderwall. "It's really exciting to watch her progress in her career. She's very talented and has excellent taste in music. To watch her get better and better each time is very exciting. She's very good. I'm so proud of her."

It was a jam-packed holiday for Conrad, who spent Thanksgiving with her family and then Friday at a "leftovers and cocktails party." Even with the busy schedule, it's a time of year that Conrad -- who does a lot of the cooking -- really enjoys.

"My favorite thing to make is the stuffing," she said. "I look forward to it every year. There's really a very specific time that you can justify eating stuffing, so I'm very excited for it. You can't eat stuffing in July. It's weird if you do."

The one thing Conrad didn't do over the long weekend was shop… at stores at least.

"I'm terrified of Black Friday,” she said. "All my shopping is done online. I like to buy things that people won't buy for themselves, and I like to do something that's a little bit personal – like something engraved or just something I know they'll enjoy."

After Thanksgiving, it's back to work for Conrad, who has a beauty book and a fourth novel in the works, as well as a clothing line and several websites to run. Hard-pressed for free time, she says that when it comes to a social life, "you just make it work," and she credits friends like Jilly Hendrix for making it all possible.

"I work with a really amazing team," she said. "I have amazing people around me and I have really supportive friends who will never make me feel guilty for being busy.”

With her growing career, Conrad says she also does a lot of on-the-job learning. These days, she's into etiquette, and had the opportunity to interview Elizabeth Post, the granddaughter of etiquette master Emily Post. She's parlayed her knowledge into every day use, like say, dating.

"You shouldn't have your cell phone out on the table," she said of proper dating etiquette. "You should always do the reach when the check comes, but it is proper etiquette for a man to purchase the girl's [drinks or meal.] A lot of the rules are a little more old school, so we kind of interpreted all of the old etiquette into modern day."

So, Derek Hough, if you're reading this take notes. Lauren knows what she wants.

Lauren + Paper Crown at CUSP Boutique: Century City!

"Lauren Conrad stood underneath the CUSP Store's spotlights, with her hands clasped and a demure smile on her face.

The 25-year-old reality-star turned-fashion-designer stood larger than life with perfectly coiffed hair, dressed in a nude camisole and floral maxi skirt from her new line, Paper Crown. Conrad made an appearance at CUSP, a series of boutiques owned by parent company Neiman Marcus, in Century City Wednesday night to promote her 2011 Holiday collection.

Shoppers and fans alike thumbed through her flirty dresses and feminine separates while a DJ spun beats in the background and sharply dressed servers offered cocktails and appetizers. The former MTV reality star, accompanied by Paper Crown partner and best friend Maura McManus, was all smiles as she mingled in the chic and upbeat atmosphere.

After starring in reality TV shows "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills," Conrad moved on to publish several books, including "Lauren Conrad Style," which was a New York Times Best seller. At the same time, Conrad was pursuing her dream as a fashion designer, launching The Lauren Conrad Collection in 2007 and LC Lauren Conrad in 2009. Paper Crown, her third line, was debuted in July of this year and was the first line that Conrad was involved in from the beginning to the end.

"There's something really cool about watching a piece develop and going through fittings and picking the exact fabric and going to the factories," said Conrad. "It's a little more work and a little more stressful, but it's rewarding at the end. Plus, it was a very fun thing to do with one of my best friends."

Conrad proved her worth as a designer with her latest line. A mix of glam and elegance, key pieces from the Holiday collection include a tiered silk mini dress, a grey velvet floor length gown with an open back, and the ultimate long-sleeved lace LBD. Conrad's favorite piece of the flawless and festive bunch is the Plath skirt, a pleated lace mini with a gathered waist.

Conrad already has a 2012 Pre-Spring lookbook on the Paper Crown website and from the looks of it, we'll be seeing more of Paper Crown in the future.

"It's something that I love doing and that’s what the brand has always been about," says Conrad. "It's about pursuing your dreams and doing things that make you happy.”"

It All Started With An Idea..

Hey everyone! We just wanted to take a post to let you all know about the story of how we started Lauren Conrad Daily and why we love what we do. So sit back, relax, and enjoy!

First things first. Although "we" often refer to LCdaily as "we" when talking about the site, however, "we" should really be "I". Confused? In other words, the site Lauren Conrad Daily is run by one person. That would be me, Colleen. I have owned/ran this site for almost two year now! It has been such a great experience and it is so much fun.

It is often hard to run this site, balance school work, and just live life but I have reached a wonderful balance and blog as much as I can. I hope that I get everything out to all of you Lauren fans as fast as I can. Have I been doing a good job?

One thing that I promise you will never find on my website is gossip. I hate gossip! I mean, would you want someone that is a 'fan' of you posting gossip on their blog? They are supposed to be supporting you, not spreading rumors. Am I right? That does not mean that I look down upon other fansites for Lauren (or in general) that post the latest gossip, it is just my own values and beliefs. I mean after all I wouldn't want someone posting rumors about me.

Back to how it all started..One day I discovered the amazing world of Twitter. I thought it was incredible! Getting to follow celebrity's every move and idea? It sounded amazing. I remember seeing all these fansites for actors and actresses and though it was really cool! I have been a fan of Lauren since Laguna, so I instantly began searching for LC fansites. I began searching and found a few, but some had not been updates for a while. So I decided, why not make one for Lauren? It was the best idea I have ever had.

After about a month of tweeting and blogging I had about 32 followers and I was so proud!! I remember thinking to myself, "Imagine if I had 100 followers?" The sound of 100 followers was the most exciting thing for me. It meant that I could connect with other Lauren Conrad fans that loved her as much as I did.

Once I started to reach abut 150 followers I noticed that there were a lot of other Lauren Conrad fansites forming. This made me really happy! I hope that people may have seen my site and it inspired them to do the same. I know that is how I started LCdaily. Now there are so many fansites for Lauren, it is so exciting! It makes me really happy to see all the support.

Right now Lauren Conrad Daily has a little over 11,000 followers. I cannot even believe this! I never thought my site would turn into something so big. It makes me so happy to see that there are so many people out there that like what I post and have love + support for Lauren. I know that Lauren appreciated all of your support and it means a lot to her!

Thank you all for supporting Lauren Conrad Daily to be the best fansite it can be. Without all of you and your comments it would not be the site it is today! If you ever have any questions or comments feel free to tweet me or leave a comment on blogger.

Lauren Conrad seems to have found the trick to making great clothes. “Design selfishly,” Conrad, who has a self-titled collection for Kohl’s as well as her new Paper Crown line, tells PEOPLE. Her motto for creating each season’s signature look? “You know what you’d want to buy — design it.” Simple enough.

“I love floor-length pieces in pretty fabrics,” continues the former reality star, who created a resort collection for Paper Crown full of maxi dresses in a variety of silhouettes. But for fall, she’s feeling leather — faux, that is. “You can find an alternative to leather or fur, so use it,” she says. “I like that faux leather has more stretch, so we did a legging, which I love.”

There’s a continuity in each season for each line that comes from Conrad’s own vision. “The look is soft, romantic, pretty,” she explains. And she’s also figured out that style isn’t just about looking good. “Dress in what makes you feel good about yourself too,” she advises.

The California girl isn’t only involved in fashion these days; she just finished a stint as a guest writer on Forbes.com and recently announced plans to launch a beauty line based on her popular new website, TheBeautyDepartment.com.

If there’s one thing reality star, author and clothing designer Lauren Conrad knows how to do, it’s speak to her demographic. Mostly because she embodies it.

I interviewed Conrad last Thursday afternoon when she was in town for a personal appearance at the Bellevue Square Nordstrom. Her newest line, Paper Crown, debuted at Nordstrom this season. It's filled with what she describes as “feminine, flowy and pretty pieces that are great staples for the wardrobe.”

In person, Conrad was, as she appears on TV, calm, polite, gracious and fairly glowing with sunny California-girl charm.

She was wearing the cream Tiered Silk Maxi dress, from her line, with a delicate, subtle floral pattern that, while casual and breezy, could easily be paired with a blazer for work.
I noted that her line seemed perfectly tuned towards young, professional women, a demographic in which Conrad herself belongs.

“You design what you love and what you want to wear yourself,” Conrad confirms. “I think lots of girls could wear this line and wear it their own way. I love it when people style the clothing themselves and not just the way they saw it styled somewhere.”

Conrad designed this current line about a year and a half ago, and said she was thrilled to finally see it on the racks.When asked how she felt her design chops were evolving, she admitted to learning a lot during the last few years, “ from production to design,” and while Fall 2011 is focused on basics in solid, neutral colors -- “they’re easy to build around,” says Conrad -- her Holiday collection is more daring, with vibrant prints and edgier silhouettes.
As someone who has been in the public eye since she was 17, Conrad recognizes that her reality TV exposure has been both help and hindrance to her professionally.

She used her name recognition to anchor her previous line (LC Lauren Conrad, sold exclusively at Kohl’s), but made the conscious choice to name this third line something different. “I’ve obviously been able to take advantage of the opportunities that I have,” Conrad explains, “but I wanted this collection to stand on its own and for people to buy the clothes because they like them, and not because of my name.”

Sounds like a girl with a good head on her shoulders (and a paper crown on top).

Lauren Talks Paper Crown with Seventeen Magazine!

Feminine, romantic, and classy are three words I would use to describe Lauren Conrad's new line, Paper Crown. Lauren got the name "paper crown" from when she used to play dress up at her Grandma's house, where they would make paper crowns and decorate them with glitter. On her website, Lauren says that Paper Crown is a line that allows you to play dress up in a grown up world.

Lauren already has a Kohl's line, but it's not related to Paper Crown. Paper Crown was a separate project that she wanted to start, so that she could move at her own pace and use higher end and higher quality fabrics. The pieces are whimsical and the lines are clean. The color palette is soft, sweet, and so wearable!

The line is perfect for homecoming, date night, or a night out on the town. Lauren sat down with Seventeen and told us about her homecoming memories, date night tips, and her favorite pieces from the line:

Seventeen: Is there a dress that you can think of that would be a good dress for homecoming?

Lauren Conrad: Well, I always wanted to wear a longer dress, because I feel like you have so many fewer opportunities to do that. I would say the long tiered chiffon dress.

17: Do you have a favorite piece in the collection for a date?

LC: Dates are always hard. You don't want to be too dressed up or too casual. You have to be careful about heel height, you know the whole thing. I really love the faux leather leggings, because that's such a staple in my night life wardrobe.

17: How should you feel in the outfit?

LC: I think they should be in something you feel comfortable in. You don't want to be fidgety all night in something too tight or too short. I think it's definitely important to look like yourself on a date. You don't want to look like someone else with too much makeup or too much hair. But it's also very important to know what you're going to do. Because you don't want to dress for a dinner date, and then you go bowling. You know what I mean? Whether you wear Paper Crown to Homecoming or on a date with the quarterback, I think it's a line that is versatile and here to stay.

When talking with Lauren's team at the event, they said as the line continues on, you will see Lauren's vision evolve. They said she really knows what's right and has a great sense of her fashion. I can't wait to see more!

Lauren Conrad will be at NYC Fashion Coterie this Sunday, presenting Paper Crown Spring 2012 to the fashion industry, making it available to high-end store and boutique buyers.

Paper Crown will be at The Javits Center until Tuesday at Booth 3124 on Level 3, so industry buyers are welcomed to stop on by and experience the complete Spring collection for themselves.

This is Paper Crown's second-go-round at NYC Fashion Coterie since making it's first presentation back in February with the Fall 2011 collection.

Eager buyers will be more than thrilled to see all the innovations implemented in this latest line from Lauren, supplemented with more little black dresses, and lace patterns on traditional pieces.

Lauren just unveiled a complete and finished product of the Paper Crown Spring 2012 collection, with notable revisions from the first draft of Spring 2012.Paper Crown has always been a welcome gem at NYC Fashion Coterie with huge success, and again will be a buyer's hit at this semi-annual trade show.

FASHION PHILOSOPHY: I dress girlie and polished, but with a very California feel. I'm also drawn to romantic pieces when I'm shopping. I love that feminine romantic look where it's free-flowing and just very beautiful.

BLAST FROM THE PAST: I was a little bit more casual, but I was also younger and I grew up in a beach town. I had to have my flip-flops torn away from me.

PLAYING DESIGNER: Paper Crown is something I've done on my own, which has been really fun. Quality was a really big focus. We wanted to do really beautiful fabrics and focus on getting a beautiful fit. So the pieces are a little more classic and timeless—they can be worn throughout the seasons. Mustard is in for fall, so we did a lot of that. I really like the tailored pieces the camels, mustards and nude. It's a little traditional, but I loved that. Leather is big, too, so we did a couple of leather pieces.

NAIL GIRL: Yesterday, I had a lavender nail with a silver tip. I like twists on French manicures, like the half-moon nails. I've been doing those a lot lately. It's fun because you can do your nails a solid color and the next day you can update them. I'm a paint-your-nails-every day girl.

TRANSITION TO FALL: Flared denim was really big all throughout summer and I think its going to carry into fall. The weather in L.A. doesn't change much so I don't have much to worry about, but layering is so big during the fall. You're just working with pieces, like wearing a light weight blouse that you are layering a blazer over. I'll also do shorts or a skirt and add tights. So I'm all about playing around.

RULE BREAKER: I always wear white after Labor Day—I think I wore it yesterday! White in winter is so beautiful that is a rule that I never really follow.

DATE NIGHT: You should wear something that you feel comfortable in because you don't want to be fidgeting all night if something is too tight or short. It's definitely important to look like yourself on a date. You don't want to dress up like somebody else or wear too much makeup and big hair. But it's also very important to know what you are going to do because if you are getting dressed for a dinner date and you go bowling that's an issue.

Lauren Conrad's been something of a style icon since her early days on The Hills. The Newport Beach native popularized black nail polish, long ombre locks and liquid eyeliner, so turning that trendsetting power into actual design post-reality TV makes sense.

After a false start with her 2008 line, The Lauren Conrad Collection, Conrad’s found her design niche with Paper Crown . “The majority of my first collection was jersey dresses and it was really branded that way. This one is pretty different,” Conrad says. But what’s the difference? Paper Crown closely mimics Conrad’s personal fashion and avoids the LC name-dropping, “I wanted to do an upstairs line that didn’t have my name in the title. I wanted the clothes to stand for themselves.” With four collections already locked in—and stores reportedly selling out of launch items like “hot cakes”—it looks like Paper Crown has legs to stand on.

ELLE: How did you land on the name, Paper Crown?

Lauren Conrad: The story of Paper Crown came from when I use to visit my grandmother. We would always want to play dress up, but she didn’t have my dress up trunk there. So, we would cut things out of paper and make crowns and that was our own way of dressing up.

ELLE: What’s important about keeping the “dress up” spirit?

LC: When you’re little, it’s a game you play; it’s a pastime, something that you love. I think that’s what dressing yourself is all about. It’s having fun with it. It’s self-expression. It’s feeling pretty. I have the most fun with my outfits when I’m dressing to go to a dive bar with my girlfriends and you’re doing something different with your look. But Los Angeles has it’s own laid back take on most trends, we tend to take a more relaxed approach to things that are high fashion in New York.

ELLE: Did you pay attention to any specific trends for the collection?

LC: When you’re dealing with clothing lines, branding is really involved. You study the trends and then you interpret it in your own way. With Paper Crown, our palette is always going to be much softer and more romantic then most of the other colors out there. You want to incorporate new trends, but still stay true to the brand you’ve created.

ELLE: What’s your design process like?

LC: I wanted to do pieces that were very chic but could also translate into pool wear. I’m a big fan of the cover-up, because I’m the girl who’s afraid of the sun and is rarely in a bikini. So, a top like that is something I could wear tucked into a mini-skirt for a more polished look or something I could wear over a bathing suit.

ELLE: Before you started designing, did you keep a wish list of things to design?

LC: I’ve done that for awhile. I still do that today. We just designed this sweater. I have a similar one that’s too big—the fabric content isn‘t quite right and I don’t love the color—but I love the concept of it. So, I was able to get a really soft knit and do it in this lovely oatmeal. That’s kind of the perk of designing a line, that you’re able to make the pieces you’ve been searching for.

ELLE: What are the staple pieces in your closet right now?

LC: I’ve been wearing a lot of Equipment. They’re so great because they’re really transitional—I can wear them with skinnies and flats for the day and then layer on a cardigan or a blazer, add a heel, and throw my hair up. I think that’s a really amazing basic. I like them in both the silk and chiffon.

ELLE: Have you spotted anyone in Paper Crown yet?
LC: It just went into stores, but the other day, I was shopping at Ron Herman and the saleswoman a few feet away from me was holding up a pair of my pants and saying it was the last pair. The rest were sold out. It was pretty amazing!

1. What inspired the collection? Paper Crown is an extension of my own personal style. I wanted an outlet to create beautiful pieces that I look for in my daily life: be it a business meeting, a girl’s night out, or a special event. I’m able to have full creative freedom, yet I really edit the pieces to my taste and perspective. I wear everything I design!

2. What are your 3 favorite pieces? ~I love the Ella Tiered Gown: it’s beautiful and romantic. I’ve worn it with and without a belted sash. ~The Faux Leather Leggings: I’m obsessed. Chic, but still a little edgy and they go from day to night. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worn them. ~The Ryder Blazer: We had multiple fittings to get the cut just right. Straight and sophisticated, yet flattering and very classic.

3. What trends can we expect to see for the Fall collection? Paper Crown is not so much trend focused as it is feminine and classic. We instead focus on quality and beautiful fabrications: the small details, placement of seams, and drape of fabrics. The palette is very chic with some beautiful neutrals and blushes.

Lauren Conrad for Forbes Lifestyle: Building A Clothing Line On My Own Terms

The decision to start Paper Crown wasn’t entirely a business move. While it’s an important addition to my overall brand, Paper Crown is actually more of a passion project—an opportunity to make beautiful clothing on my own financial and creative terms.

To bring Paper Crown to life, I hired my long-time friend, Maura McManus. Her hands-on experience with another contemporary brand and understanding of everything from customer relations to the design process was vital to launching Paper Crown. Maura runs the daily business side of the company, while I oversee the creative and financial verticals. Together, we have crafted a clothing line I’m very proud of.

Transforming Paper Crown from an idea into a company was a challenging process. Last April, Maura and I mapped out everything we wanted to accomplish with the line and focused on what it would take to achieve those goals while sustaining a profitable business. I was confident the line would do well based on the success of LC Lauren Conrad collection for Kohl’s and my best-selling book, Lauren Conrad STYLE.

We immersed ourselves in research, studying other contemporary clothing companies such as Elizabeth & James, Vince, and Rebecca Minkoff to name a few. We reviewed everything from how and where they manufactured their product to social media methods and sales strategy. We also met with top names in the garment industry to ask about everything from big-picture matters such as production logistics down to the nitty-gritty details like distribution methods and thread counts. With the information gained from these consultations in addition to my research and experience in the industry, we were able to set forth a detailed plan to direct, grow and nurture Paper Crown under a merchant business model.

Having strong business sense is helpful, but designing clothes and researching trends is where I thrive most. Enlisting a team of trusted and experienced professionals to bring my designs to life is tremendously important. After months of research and face-to-face meetings, I decided to work with a full service apparel company based in Los Angeles to head the manufacturing process of our garments. I also recruited veteran patternmakers who are able to fashion pieces worthy of hanging beside other distinguished contemporary lines.

As with all new frontiers, you are bound to hit bumps in the road. One of the biggest obstacles I had to overcome was finding a balance between making design decisions based on profitability and maintaining design credibility. Pricing a garment can sometimes stifle the creative process since it’s important to hit a target price in order to ultimately turn a profit. Let’s say I want to use a $4.50 trim, but I can only afford to use a similar, yet less lovely, $1.23 trim in order to hit my target price. At this point, I can decide to use that higher quality trim, but I’ll be taking a hit from the inflated price. Occasionally, I will make this call if I think a piece is particularly important to the collection.

Making the final decision is important to me because I am personally backing the line—one of the main reasons I created Paper Crown. In the past, I wasn’t the one financing the line, so the decision to use higher quality trim would not have been mine. While I understand a clothing line is a business, I find it disconcerting when quality is compromised for the sake of profit. Things like fabric quality, consistent sizing and good construction are all factors that can build or break the relationship with a customer. In the end it’s all about consumer satisfaction.

I’m proud of what Paper Crown is today. It’s a collection of polished pieces with a charming and youthful vibe—the look and feel of the line is clean, cool and feminine. It’ll be available at many top tier boutiques and retailers, including Planet Blue and Nordstrom (the first season arrives in stores August 1st).

Looking ahead, I hope to see Paper Crown grow while still maintaining its specialty feel. By investing in quality and design, Paper Crown lends credibility to my name as a designer. The fact that it has evolved into a prosperous business is just icing on the cake.

On what she loves about Rebecca Minkoff: “She’s lady-like but with a hip factor, her style is very her.”

On trends she is currently excited about: “Seventies summer romance… sheer fabrics, long dresses, very romantic.”

On her favorite hair and make-up trends: “I just stopped by my hair stylist before coming here because I’d had tie-dye hair for about a week but since I was coming to a nice event, I thought I should tone it down, so there are tiny blue streaks in it right now. I was wondering if anyone would notice! I painted my nails tonight in the ombré style (dark to light shades of blue) and I know the trend of painting the ring finger a different colour to the rest of your nails. I like to carry nail polish strips when I travel in case they get chipped and then they’re so easy to repair. I feel like with nails, anything goes!”

Teen Vogue: Lauren Conrad Q&A

The reality superstar and former Teen Vogue intern opens up to us about her new fashion project, her life outside the cameras—and what's next. Trust us, you'll want to tune in!

How would you describe the Paper Crown collection? Feminine, a modern take on classic style. Understatedly elegant, effortless, and lovely.

Did you design the collection with yourself in mind? Is every piece something you would wear? Or do you have other muses, and if so, who? My inspirations are translated in different ways throughout the process. We do keep our various customers in mind, but I make sure each style is true to my vision and brand. I usually end up slipping into every piece after the fit model during fittings, and sneaking samples as soon as I am able to. I wouldn't include a piece in my collection that I wouldn't wear personally. Besides, half the fun of designing is getting to wear the clothing!

How is Paper Crown different from your previous design endeavors, and what did you learn from your previous experiences that helped you in launching Paper Crown? Paper Crown is different from what I have done in the past because I was able to enter into the line with the experience I obtained in the previous years spent in the industry. Paper Crown is really a passion project. I created the line because I'm in love with the process of design, and I wanted to have my own contemporary collection that allowed me to follow my own rules and be creative. The pieces are current with a classic feel—investments that will last throughout the seasons. I have had many missteps along the way, but I learned from each of them and the next time I didn't make the same mistake. I am still learning. Everything from design, sales, and production through partnering with our retailers, I am constantly learning things about this industry.

Do you have a favorite piece from the collection? My favorite pieces vary depending on the occasion. My favorite style to dress up in is our tiered chiffon maxi, the Ella Dress. I love the way it moves. For everyday wear, I am obsessed with our faux leather leggings: I wear them all the time!

How do you think your style has changed and evolved since you were a Teen Vogue intern? In the past five years I have developed my own personal style. Dressing myself has become less of a chore and more of something I can enjoy. Through trial and error, I learned what worked for me and what didn't. Now I tend to gravitate towards the more classic, feminine looks. I enjoy slipping into a platform to run errands, or throwing my hair into a polished up-do to head to my office. I have fun with it.

Any fashion faux pas from your interning days that you wish you could erase? Too many to remember, but I wouldn't erase them. Well... mostly I can't erase them because most of them were captured on camera and will forever haunt me!

How did interning at Teen Vogue influence your sense of style? What was the most valuable thing you learned from your time there? During my time at Teen Vogue, I learned about trend forecasting. We would shoot editorials three months before they would appear in the magazine. We would have swimwear in the closet in the winter. It always felt so odd, but it taught me to try and stay ahead of trends. This is important when you are designing pieces that won't hit stores for another six months.

Any celebrities you would love to dress? As a designer, you are flattered to see anyone in one of your designs, whether it's on a red carpet or passing by you in the market. It's this wonderful little high every time. I get it every time I see someone in an LC Lauren Conrad Piece, and I can't wait to see someone in Paper Crown.

What's next for Paper Crown? How do you see it growing down the road? I am currently working on my Spring 2012 collection. The first season, Fall 2011, is now available in stores and we will be doing in-store events with Nordstrom. I want to allow Paper Crown to grow organically. I would like to slowly expand the line but maintain its specialty feel.

What's next for Lauren Conrad? You are always working on so many things at once. What else do you have up your sleeve right now? I just completed my manuscript for the first of three books in my new series, The Fame Game. I have my Paper Crown clothing line, as well as LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls. I also have two websites, laurenconrad.com and thebeautydepartment.com, which monopolize a lot of my time. I have a couple other projects that I am currently working on, but nothing that I can talk about right now!

What do you like to do when you're not working? Fitness is a luxury when you are busy! When I have a free afternoon, I love taking my dog, Chloe, for a hike at Runyon Canyon. Spending time with my friends and family is also very important, and I love nights in with my girlfriends watching movies and eating frozen yogurt.

Do you see yourself returning to TV in any respect in the future? And what kind of project would you want to be involved in? As of now, I have no plans to return to television. That being said, I have learned to never say never (yes, I did just intentionally quote Justin Bieber).

Where do you see yourself in five years? I am not sure where I will be five years from now. I hope that I will still be doing something that I love, and that I will be as happy as I am today.

HIPP x RGB: Lauren Conrad Inspired Nail Polish!

Celeb Manicurist, Jenna Hipp (follow here on twitter at: @JennaHipp),

has collaborated with RGB Cosmetics Nail Polish to create her own line

of colors called HIPP x RGB. The line consists of four "nudes" that are

inspired by four of Hipp's celebrity client's favorite foundations. One of

the colors, "F2" is inspired by Lauren! Lauren even sported the color on

the cover of Lucky Magazine last month, manicure done by Jenna Hipp.

Lauren Conrad: My Business Plan For Lauren Conrad Online

Hello again Forbes Lifestyle readers,

I just posted a blog entry on LaurenConrad.com about my personal tips for decorating your home titled, Interior Design: 5 Things You Should Know. Keeping a daily blog is a fun way to connect with fans. It’s also a key component in understanding my audience and providing an online platform for my various projects.

Both of my websites serve as the backbone for other business endeavors. While LaurenConrad.com is a place to continue to broaden my personal brand online, TheBeautyDepartment.com is a joint venture that acts as a springboard for developing a line of beauty products.

LaurenConrad.com is now an online community but it wasn’t always an interactive site. Like most celebrities, my page used to be an online press portfolio. But as my list of projects grew I realized I needed a website that would act as a hub for all my projects instead of just a vanity page. I teamed up with EQAL, a great new social media company that currently helps run my website. Their technology platform has allowed me to transform LaurenConrad.com into a one-stop online lifestyle destination by making it an interactive experience instead of a static profile page.

I worked closely with EQAL to design the website. By utilizing various graphic details (such as Polaroid film insets, bow cursors etc.), classic fonts, soft color schemes, textures and clean layouts we created an online identity with a fresh yet effortlessly-chic aesthetic. The new LaurenConrad.com has also consolidated my audiences, making it a desirable space for advertisers and a vehicle that has helped us reach the ultimate goal of monetizing the site.

My favorite part about the revamped LaurenConrad.com is the blog element. The daily blog chronicles my interests—everything from fashion, beauty and interior design to food, travel and even party planning—while housing my current musings. Some of the content is based off requests or ideas sourced from the community. I like to include postings that highlight members. For example, I recently asked readers to share photos of their Fourth of July inspired manicures. By the next day, the site was flooded with photos of red, white, and blue painted nails. To show my appreciation for their efforts, I did a Member Spotlight: Patriotic Polish post where I showcased three of my favorite photo submissions.

I think it’s important to add a participatory element when blogging. It encourages readers to engage and gives you the ability to reactively create content based on community interest.

In addition to LaurenConrad.com, I collaborated with my hair stylist, Kristin Ess, and makeup artist, Amy Nadine, to create a second site called TheBeautyDepartment.com. Through daily posts, we provide expert tips on all things beauty. Many of the posts are syndicated to LaurenConrad.com as well for cross-site promotion.

One of the main motivations behind creating TheBeautyDepartment.com was to use it as an opportunity to get familiar with our market. Our target client seeks knowledge and know-how; she wants to learn how experts accomplish various beauty looks so she can try them at home. She is a woman of all ages and is hungry for “edu-tainment,” which we provide through fun yet instructional visual posts. With the information gained from online polls, reader response and site analytics we continually educate ourselves on our target demographic. Ideally, we would love to create a beauty line—whether on our own or through a partnership—and our long-term goal is to integrate our own products into tutorials with options to purchase through an embedded link.

Branding yourself digitally is not an easy task. Needless to say, extending my online scope has been an exciting process. My sites have already experienced tremendous growth (we already have more than 16,000 registered users participating in the LaurenConrad.com community) and I’m looking forward to the endless opportunities they offer.
